SEO · Ottawa
One city, a dozen local markets.
A customer on Bank Street at Somerset and one at South Keys both live in Ottawa, but Google shows them different businesses. We help Ottawa businesses show up for the parts of the city they actually serve.

Down Bank Street
Five stops, five different local searches
Bank Street runs from Parliament Hill south past the Glebe, over the Rideau River and on to South Keys. Each stretch searches a little differently, and each one teaches something about Google Maps. Our view
Bank & Wellington Street
Parliament Hill
Bank Street starts at the Hill. Up here the searchers are visitors and office workers on phones, in English and French, looking for something within a few blocks. Hours, photos and a clear category do the work.
Bank & Somerset
Centretown
Dozens of restaurants, salons and clinics within walking distance of each other. When everyone is close, distance stops deciding Google Maps, and reviews and a complete profile start to.
Bank & Holmwood
The Glebe and Lansdowne
TD Place game days and the Lansdowne farmers' market bring in people who don't live here. They search the day of. A business that keeps its hours and posts current gets those visits.
Bank & Riverside
Billings Bridge
Cross the river and Google Maps changes. A searcher at Billings Bridge sees a different set of businesses than one in the Glebe, ten minutes north. Your service area should say how far you really go.
Bank & Hunt Club
South Keys
Big-box stores and national chains. Independent businesses here compete with brands that have huge review counts, so a narrow, accurate category and real photos matter more than a bigger ad budget.
A plumber in Orléans and a plumber in Kanata are both "Ottawa plumbers." Google doesn't see it that way.
Google ranks businesses in Google Maps on relevance, distance and prominence. Confirmed–Google Since the 2001 amalgamation, Ottawa stretches from Kanata and Stittsville to Orléans and Cumberland, and south past Manotick. A business on one side rarely shows on Google Maps on the other, however good its profile.
We checked 20 common English service searches in Ottawa, like "plumber ottawa." All 20 showed the Google Maps box above the regular results. Tested by us

West end, east end
Kanata and Orléans need different plans
| Kanata and Stittsville | Orléans | |
|---|---|---|
| Main roads | March Road, Terry Fox Drive, Highway 417 | Boulevard St-Joseph, Innes Road, Highway 174 |
| Landmarks | The Kanata North tech park, the Canadian Tire Centre | Place d'Orléans, the Shenkman Arts Centre |
| Language | Mostly English searches | One of the region's largest French-speaking communities |
| Who's buying | Tech companies and the families who work there | Families, commuters, French-language schools and services |
| What we'd do first | A service page that answers a business buyer's questions, plus Google Maps for home services | A French profile description and French service pages, then Google Maps |
The "what we'd do first" row is our view, and the audit decides it for your business.
Selling to public servants
When your customers work for the government
Plenty of Ottawa businesses sell to federal employees or to departments. Those buyers expect sites that are clear, accessible and in both official languages, because that's what they build at work.
I spent fifteen years on Government of Canada websites. That shapes how we write your pages: plain language, real headings, alt text and forms that work with a keyboard. Better for people, and easier for Google and AI search to read. Our view
The City of Ottawa serves residents in English and French, but private businesses in Ontario have no Quebec-style duty to publish in French. If your customers in Orléans or Vanier search in French, our French Ottawa page is written for them.
Ottawa questions
Asked often
Do I need a separate page for Kanata, Orléans and Barrhaven?
Only for parts of the city you really serve, and only if you have something true to say about each: jobs you've done there, travel time, what's different about the homes or businesses. A page that swaps the neighbourhood name into the same text is what Google's spam policies call a doorway page.
I'm in Kanata. Can you get me on Google Maps downtown?
Not reliably. Distance is one of the three things Google ranks businesses on in Google Maps. Your website's regular results aren't tied to Google Maps, so a strong service page can still reach searchers across the city. That's where we put the effort.
